76ers Vs. Pistons Preview: Beware Of Greg Monroe

The Philadelphia 76ers will host the 4-16 Detroit Pistons on Saturday night.

One night following their blow out victory over the NBA's worst team, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Philadelphia 76ers will host the NBA's third worst team, the Detroit Pistons, tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Pistons are 4-16 on the season, 1-8 on the road and have lost three consecutive games. Like the Sixers, they played last night, losing at home to the Atlanta Hawks in overtime. Also like the Sixers, the Pistons are dealing with some key injuries right now. Ben Gordon has a sore shoulder, Tayshaun Prince missed last night's game for personal reasons, Charlie Villanueva is out indefinitely with an ankle injury and Will Bynum has a strained right foot.

The Sixers' glaring weakness is their soft interior defense, and without centers Spencer Hawes and Nikola Vucevic they've become even more vulnerable to talented big men, especially on the glass. Unfortunately, the Pistons best player and only serious threat is second year center, Greg Monroe. Monroe leads the team in PER at 23.8, has above average rebounding percentages across the board, passes the ball well and scores efficiently. Kris Humphires recorded 19 rebounds against the Sixers earlier this week. Keep an eye on Greg Monroe. He could turn in a monster performance statistically.
