Andre Iguodala has been notified that he is one of the finalists to make the Team USA men's basketball team that will compete in the 2012 London Olympics.
Philadelphia 76ers forward Andre Iguodala has been notified that he is one of the finalists to make the Team USA men's basketball team that will compete in the 2012 London Olympics, reports CSN Philly's John Finger.
Iguodala said he was contacted by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo this week about being one of the 18 players in consideration for the Olympic team.
The team will consist of 12 players and six alternates.
Iguodala isn't considered a front-runner to make the final roster, but his performance with Team USA during the 2010 World Championships cannot do anything but help his cause. Because of Team USA's talent, Iguodala was freed from any scoring burden and allowed to focus entirely on bottling up the opponent's best scorer. The team went 9-0 and Iguodala -- surrounded by such prodigious talents as Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook -- played a key role as a perimeter stopper.
