Sixers Vs. Knicks: Philadelphia Loses, 82-79

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins will have to wait for his 400th career win. New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson had his team rolling on Wednesday night. The Knicks won 82-79, their fifth win in a row.

Carmelo Anthony was held to just 10 points by Andre Iguodala, but the Knicks got big contributions from Amare Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin in the victory. Stoudemire led with 21 points and nine rebounds. Lin finished with 18 points and five rebounds.

The Knicks controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Sixers 47-39.

Elton Brand finished with a double-double, 12 rebounds and 12 points, and Jrue Holiday led with 16 points. Three other players finished with double digit point totals.

The loss puts the 76ers just three games ahead of the Knicks in the Atlantic Division, with a 26-21 record. Philadelphia takes on Boston on Friday.

Sixers fans winced at the sight of their team failing to foul the Knicks at the end of regulation. You can see the reaction on the court in the video below.

Sixers Vs. Bobcats Final Score: Philadelphia Rolls Over Hapless Charlotte, 105-80

The Philadelphia 76ers ended their three-game losing streak Monday night, taking on a hapless Charlotte Bobcats on the road and coming away 105-80 victors. The win should hopefully provide the team with a shot of confidence as they return home to play the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics after playing four of their last five games on the road.

Jrue Holiday and Thaddeus Young scored 20 points each, with Holiday pitching in six assists and Young adding six rebounds. Louis Williams added 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field including 3-of-3 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.

Spencer Hawes started once again coming off an Achilles' straing, making another significant impact defensively around the rim. He had 11 rebounds and three blocked shots to go along with 13 points. The Sixers dominated the Bobcats on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 51 to 31.

Charlotte shot just 38.7 percent for the game (compared to 53.5 percent for Philly). Gerald Henderson's 14 points led the team. He had a decent night going 5-for-10 from the field with four assists. Unfortunately, he couldn't make up for 3-of-10 performance from Tyrus Thomas, or a 2-of-8 performance by D.J. Augustin.

Sixers Vs. Bobcats: Spencer Hawes Expected To Start As Philadelphia Seeks To End Losing Streak

The Philadelphia 76ers (25-20) will be on the road on Monday night to take on the Charlotte Bobcats (7-36) at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Sixers are looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they play the Bobcats on Monday. Charlotte currently has the NBA's worst record. The Sixers have beaten the Bobcats in both meetings this season. Tonight's game will be the final meeting of the season between the teams.

Philadelphia is expected to have center Spencer Hawes start again after he played against Chicago on Saturday. Hawes is still recovering from an Achilles strain. Hawes leads the Sixers in rebounding (7.8 per game). The Bobcats could be without leading scorer Corey Maggette (15.8) in tonight's game. Maggette has a back injury. If Maggette can't go, Reggie Williams will be the likely replacement.

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered their 10th consecutive regular season loss at the hands of the Miami Heat, falling 84-78 at the Wells Fargo Center.

After leading by as much as 29 points in the second half, the Heat almost had an epic collapse to lose the game. For the Sixers, Evan Turner had a team-high 13 points while Andre Iguodala scored 11 points while pulling down 10 rebounds.

76ers Vs. Heat Preview: Sixers Have Lost Nine Straight Regular Season Games Against Miami

The Philadelphia 76ers have lost nine consecutive regular season games and are 1-13 in their last 14 games overall, playoffs included, against the Miami Heat. On Friday they hope to snap their losing streak and show they can hang with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat in front of a national television audience on ESPN.

The Sixers and Heat have met twice this season, with the Heat winning easily both times. The first meeting was on January 21, a 21-point Heat win in Miami. The second meeting was on February 3, when the Heat won by 20 in Philadelphia. The Sixers were without Spencer Hawes in both games, and Evan Turner was on the bench.

On Friday, the Sixers will be at full strength for the first time in a long time, although Hawes' minutes will continue to be limited. Wade and LeBron versus Turner and Iguodala should be a great match-up to watch.

Spencer Hawes Injury Update: Return Expected Wednesday Against Indiana Pacers

Philadelphia 76ers center Spencer Hawes is expected to return to the court Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers after missing the prior 17 games with an Achilles' injury.

Hawes participated fully in Tuesday's practice and said his body held up well.

"I felt good," Hawes told reporters after practice. "I've been waiting for a while to get back out there with my teammates. This is huge for me."

Coach Doug Collins has previously said that Hawes' minutes will be limited in his return, and that he won't play in back-to-back games. But even in a limited fashion, the center should help.

"It looks like he picked up right where he left off," Collins told reporters after practice. "He's ball-friendly, and for a big guy, he can really help space the floor for us. I want to get him right back in the mix."

Sixers Vs Knicks: Evan Turner, Lou Williams Lead Philly Over New York 106-94

So much for Linsanity, how about Lousanity? On an afternoon where Jeremy Lin struggled mightily, Lou Williams lit up the Knicks for 28 points as the Sixers left Madison Square Garden with a 106-94 victory. The Sixers extended their Atlantic division lead to 3.5 games while the Knicks are slipping ever closer to being out of the postseason altogether.

Williams did most of his damage in a crazy display in the last 3 minutes of the third quarter in which he tallied 14 points. Evan Turner continued his fantastic run since being inserted into the starting lineup with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Andre Iguodala filled up that stat sheet once again with 19 points, 7 boards, 8 assists and four steals.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 22 points, but PG Jeremy Lin struggled with 5-18 shooting and turned the ball over 6 times. Knicks fans chanted "fire D'Antoni" in the waning minutes of the game.

The Sixers had a lot of highlight moments, but for me, the winner for play of the game is Thaddeus Young freezing the normally fantastic defender Tyson Chandler and then taking it straight down Broadway.

76ers Vs. Knicks Preview: Sixers Face Jeremy Lin For First Time

The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since early February, because Evan Turner has ignited the entire team after being inserted into the starting lineup by Doug Collins. Another team in the Atlantic Division received a similar spark from a bench player earlier this season, and that spark goes by the name Jeremy Lin. On Sunday Lin and Turner will lead the Knicks and Sixers against each other in an Atlantic Division battle.

New York has lost four consecutive games and trails the Sixers by 5.5 games in the division. The Knicks got the best of the Sixers the only time the two teams have met this season, when Carmelo Anthony dropped 27 points (using 24 shot attempts) en route to a 85-78 victory. The Sixers were, however, playing the third game in as many nights.

On Sunday both teams will be well-rested and the Sixers will look to exact revenge for the loss they took at MSG in January. This will also be the Sixers first taste of Linsanity.

76ers Schedule 2012: Sixers Host Jazz, Travel To NY For Linsanity

It only takes one game to change perspective, and that's exactly what the Philadelphia 76ers Evan Turner-led massacre of the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night did. Coming into the ball game the Sixers had lost seven of nine and lacked a spark offensively. Enter second year guard, Evan Turner, who dominated the game with a career-high 26 points. Sixers fans so desperately want Turner to be good, and his career night re-ignited the excitement levels, at least temporarily.

The elephant in the room is the fact that the Celtics, who are already old and tired, were playing the dreaded road back-to-back, following a game that went into overtime the night before.

It's essential that both the Sixers, and Evan Turner, follow up Wednesday night's win with two victories this weekend, in two very winnable games. First up are the Utah Jazz, who are 5-13 away from home. Then the Sixers will get their first taste of Linsanity against the Knicks in a Sunday morning matinee.
