76ers General Manager Search: Danny Ferry Named Hawks GM

Stay connected for news and updates

According to a report from philly.com, Danny Ferry has decided to pull out of the running to become the Philadelphia 76ers general manager in favor of the same position with the Atlanta Hawks.

Ferry was widely considered the favorite in Philly but it just never came to pass.

The ex-NBA sharpshooter was the Cleveland Cavaliers general manager from 2005-2010 and reached the NBA Finals once only to get swept by the San Antonio Spurs. Ferry took a ton of heat for having LeBron James but consistently failing to put pieces around him to secure Cleveland's first championship.

Ferry released the following statement Monday morning:

"I'm very excited to be here today with the opportunity to help build something special for the Hawks and the Atlanta community," Ferry said. "The Hawks are dedicated to creating consistent success for our fans and doing so with the right people and the right way. I look forward to an exciting future together."
