2012 NBA Draft: 76ers 1st Rounder To Heat Lottery Protected In 2013, '14 And '15

Stay connected for news and updates

The Philadelphia 76ers sent a future first round pick and the No. 45 selection in the 2012 NBA Draft to the Miami Heat in exchange for the rights to Mississippi State center Arnett Moultrie. It is certainly a hefty price for a rookie, though Chad Ford reports that the Sixers did have the foresight to protect the first rounder.

The Sixers clearly believe Moultrie is worth the price. There were murmurs that the organization was prepared to select the 6'11 center with the No. 15 overall pick of the draft. They selected forward Maurice Harkless out of St. John's instead, but Moultrie still remained a priority.
