The Philadelphia 76ers sent a future first round pick and the No. 45 selection in the 2012 NBA Draft to the Miami Heat in exchange for the rights to Mississippi State center Arnett Moultrie. It is certainly a hefty price for a rookie, though Chad Ford reports that the Sixers did have the foresight to protect the first rounder.
76ers will send Heat future first. Lottery protected in 2013, 14, 15.If they don't receive 1st by 15, they get a 2nd in 15 & 16— Chad Ford (@chadfordinsider) June 29, 2012
The Sixers clearly believe Moultrie is worth the price. There were murmurs that the organization was prepared to select the 6'11 center with the No. 15 overall pick of the draft. They selected forward Maurice Harkless out of St. John's instead, but Moultrie still remained a priority.
