Xavier Silas Injury Update: Surgery Successful For Silas

Xavier Silas' facial surgery was a successful one, according to Philly.com.

The Philadelphia 76ers guard was injured in a Summer League game against the Detroit Pistons. The youngster went up to reject Casper Ware's shot before getting struck in the face by teammate Solomon Jones. Among the injuries, Silas suffered a concussion and multiple sinus fractures.

However, Silas doesn't appear to be down at all after enduring a two-hour surgery. He tweeted the following the teammate Evan Turner:

"Feel better. Meds just having me sleeping a lot. Tell them I'm feeling stronger already. Tell em the young snake said that."

Last season, Silas spent a majority of his time in the NBA Developmental League before playing in four games with the Sixers, including their final two playoff contests.

"Pulling my face off for 2 hours won't stop me," Silas tweeted. "I'm building the bridge between my dreams and reality and I'm naming it resilience."

Xavier Silas Injury Update: Philadelphia 76ers Guard 'Good' After Fears Of Fractured Skull, Says Teammate Evan Turner

Philadelphia 76ers guard Xavier Silas experienced a scare on Friday at the 2012 Orlando Pro Summer League, but he seems to be alright.

Evan Turner tweeted Friday afternoon that he spoke to Silas and that Silas is "good."

The 24-year old Silas had a nasty collision during Philadelphia's game against the Detroit Pistons during which he reportedly suffered a concussion. He was transported to the hospital, and the Sixers feared he might have also suffered a fractured skill.

Silas was cut by the Sixers after 2011 training camp, but was re-signed by the team in April after a D-League stint with the Maine Red Claws. He appeared in two games for the Sixers during the 2011-12 regular season, totaling 11 points, four rebounds and three assists over 39 minutes

Orlando Pro Summer League 2012: Philadelphia 76ers Fall To Detroit Pistons, Lose Xavier Silas To Head Injury

The Philadelphia 76ers fell to the Detroit Pistons on Friday at the 2012 Orlando Pro Summer League, 71-67, but they have a considerably more pressing concern to worry about.

Guard Xavier Silas was reportedly taken to the hospital with a concussion after an in-game collision, and the Sixers are worried he might have also suffered a fractured skull.

Devin Searcy was the only Philadelphia player to reach double figures, scoring 10 points in 19 minutes while adding 12 rebounds and three blocks. It was the 6-foot-10 big man's second consecutive double-double after registering 12 points and 10 rebounds on Thursday against the Orlando Magic.

Kim English led all scorers with 17 points for the Pistons, while teammate Austin Daye added 10 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.

Xavier Silas Injury Update: Possible Skull Fracture For Philadelphia 76ers' Guard

Philadelphia 76ers guard Xavier Silas was struck in the head during his team's game at the Orlando Pro Summer League on Friday and the team is worried he might have fractured his skull, according to an NBA TV report.

During the game's live telecast, Rick Kamla reported that Silas suffered a concussion and was taken to the hospital amid concern that he might also have a skull fracture.

The 24-year old guard saw action in two regular season games with the Sixers last season, totaling 11 points, four rebounds and three assists over 39 minutes. He was one of Philadelphia's last cuts in training camp last year, but re-signed with the team on April 24.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pounder finished his college career at Northern Illinois after beginning it at Colorado.

Orlando Pro Summer League Final Score: Sixers Drop Double OT Game To Magic, 77-75

The Philadelphia 76ers were defeated by the Orlando Magic, 77-75, in double overtime on Thursday at Amway Center in Summer League play.

The Magic had the better of the Sixers in this game through the first three quarters. Philadelphia trailed by eight going into the fourth quarter and used a 17-9 quarter to push the game into overtime. Lavoy Allen tied the game tied the game at 68 with one second left in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia had a chance to win the game in regulation but their shot with 0.7 left fell short.

Once the overtime frame began, Jon Scheyer was determined to make up for the hurried shot he couldn't make at the end of regulation. His second three-pointer of the game put the Sixers up by five more than midway through overtime. The Magic were able to tie the game at 73 with just under a minute to go. In the second overtime, the Sixers couldn't get their shots to fall and the Magic were able to get the win despite only scoring two points in the period.

Clay Tucker led the Sixers with 15 points. Justin Holiday chipped in 10 points. Devin Searcy had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jacob Pullen returned to action after missing the last game for Philadelphia with an ankle injury but was ineffective, shooting just 1-8 from the floor in 16 minutes. Moe Harkless sat again with a hip injury. Justin Harper led the Magic with 18 points. Three other players scored in double figures for Orlando.

The Sixers (1-3) will play the the Detroit Pistons (3-1) in their next game on Friday at Noon.

Orlando Pro Summer League Final Score: Justin Holiday Leads Sixers Past Nets, 79-71

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 79-71, in Wednesday's Orlando Summer League action at Amway Center.

The teams battled back and forth during the first half with Brooklyn holding a three-point edge after the first quarter and the Sixers leading by three at halftime. Things ended up knotted up at 54 apiece after the third quarter. Ultimately, Philadelphia's hot shooting from three-point range would allow them to pull away in the final frame despite the Nets' 28-15 free throw advantage. The Sixers shot 8-18 from behind the arc while the Nets hit just three of their 18 three-point attempts.

The Sixers were led by Justin Holiday's 18 points. Holiday was 4-4 from behind the arc on the day. Xavier Silas and Solomon Jones also reached double figures for the Sixers with 10 and 12 points, respectively. Former Penn guard Zack Rosen came off the bench and had six points and six assists for Philadelphia in 17 minutes. St. John's product Moe Harkless did not play as he recovers from a hip injury. The Nets were led by Marshon Brooks' 18 points and Tornike Shengelia's 17 points. Bryant Dunston (14 points) and Tyshawn Taylor (12 points) also scored in double figures for Brooklyn.

The win was the first of the Summer League for the Sixers (1-2) while the Nets (0-3) have lost all of their games. The Sixers next game will be against the Orlando Magic (1-1) on July 12 at 5:00 p.m.

Orlando Pro Summer League Final Score: Sixers Fall To Pacers, 69-63

The Philadelphia 76ers were defeated by the Indiana Pacers on Monday in an Orlando Summer League game at Amway Center, 69-63. It was the first game in Summer League play for either team.

Both teams looked out of sync on the offensive end of the floor in this game, which should be expected. After one quarter of play the score was tied at 12. The scoring started to pickup after halftime with the Pacers scoring 21 points in both the third and fourth quarters. The Sixers led 30-27 at the half but just couldn't hit enough shots in the second half to keep pace with Indiana.

Sixers 2012 first-round NBA Draft pick Moe Harkless had nine points, five rebounds and an assist in the game in 23 minutes. Jacob Pullen led Philadelphia with 15 points and was 3-6 from behind the arc. Xavier Silas and Justin Holiday were also in double figures with 10 points for the Sixers. The Pacers were led by 19 points and nine rebounds by Orlando Johnson. Lance Stephenson was also in double figures for Indiana with 13 points and Miles Plumlee had nine points and 10 rebounds.
