On the eve of his first trip back to the Linc after spending 12 years here, David Akers says he has nothing but love for the fans and the area.

"All I can say is that Philadelphia's been a huge blessing in my life," said Akers, whose family remains in South Jersey. "I spent a third of my life there; two of my children were born there; all three of them have been raised there; I've got so many friends that are almost like family to me. "My residence is right across the river there, and I just can't say enough for the organization for the way they gave me the opportunity to make it in the NFL. This list goes on and on. "Some people are like, 'Are you bitter about this and that?' No. It's part of the business. You come; you go. But Philly, that's where my home is. I will always be grateful, and I'll be back after the season."
