Michael Vick threw for 3 TDs and the Eagles scored 21 fourth quarter points as they routed the Washington Redskins 34-10 in their season finale at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles will now go home having won four straight to end the season. They averaged over 31 points in those four games and the defense did not allow the opposition over 20 points. Michael Vick ends his year with three straight games over a 100 QB rating for the first time in his career.
But as we’ve heard for the past week and will continue to hear, it was all too little too late. When you look at the final numbers, it’s very tough to figure out how the Eagles managed just 8 wins. They went 5-1 against the NFC East, set single season franchise records in yards gained and first downs, led the league in sacks, had the NFC’s leading rusher, a point differential of +68…
But of course, they also led the league in turnovers. There’s your reason.
Michael Vick 24-39 for 335 yards, 3 TDs and a pick. Jeremy Maclin had 8 catches for 105 yards, Brent Celek grabbed 6 passes for 86 yards and a TD and finally DeSean Jackson caught 4 passes for 86 yards including a 62 yard TD (video here). He is now one of just 5 players in NFL history to have at least 900 yards receiving in each of his first four seasons.
On defense, they surprisingly struggled against the run despite being rather good in that department for most of the second half of the year. I thought Nate Allen had a solid showing today and got a pick thanks to a deflection from Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who had a great afternoon before getting hurt. Keenan Clayton led the team in tackles today, including at least two real de-cleaters. Derek Landri played a fine game and got himself a FG block.
Also of note, Alex Henery was 2-2 today which means that he has broken David Akers single season franchise record for accuracy. If Cowboys K Dan Bailey happens to miss a FG tonight, Henery will also break the single season rookie accuracy record.
The Eagles finish 8-8 on the season. 5-1 against the NFC East, 3-7 against everyone else.

Michael Vick hit DeSean Jackson for a 62 yard TD to give the Eagles a 21-10 lead over the Redskins in the fourth quarter at Lincoln Financial Field. It was the kind of sight Eagles fans expected to see all year, but the pass was just the first time Jackson has scored from more than 40 yards out all year.
The play also set a few interesting marks. For Jackson, it put him over 900 yards receiving for the year, making him just the fifth player in NFL history to reach that plateau in each of his first four seasons. Jackson is of course a free agent after this season and is seeking a contract that will pay him amongst the elite WRs in the NFL. As much as this has been a disappointing year for him, he's just about 40 yards shy of 1,000.
The play also meant that the Eagles have set a single season franchise record for net yards. That will get heaped on the pile of stats that the Eagles have complied this season that fly in the face of their mediocre record.

It’s been a fairly ugly affair so far at Lincoln Financial Field as the Philadelphia Eagles take a 10-0 lead into the half over the Washington Redskins. Both QBs have been under siege for most of the first half and each have turned the ball over once. The difference in the game is that Michael Vick found Chad Hall for a TD after the Skins’ turnover and the Redskins put on a comical display in the red zone after the Eagles turnover.
First, the Chad Hall TD will go down as one of the most embarrassing highlights of DeAngelo Hall’s career. The 187 pound Chad Hall catches the ball in front of DeAngelo, then on a second effort pushes past both he and a Redskins LB for a TD. Again, Chad Hall is 5-9, 187 pounds.
The Redskins had a golden opportunity to close the gap at the half after Michael Vick fumbled following a sack giving Washington great field position. Rex Grossman would find Jabar Gaffney near the end zone to give the Skins first and goal. However, on the next play Santana Moss drew a 15 yard penalty after taking his helmet off to argue that he deserved a pass interference call. Then, Rex Grossman would hit Gaffney again, but with no timeouts and the clock rolling, Gaffney opted not to go down and run diagonally across the field, wasting all the time the team would have needed to get their FG team on the field.
Even if they had gotten the FG unit out, the Skins offensive line had already assumed their positions as if they were going to run another offensive play as the FG team stood behind them trying to figure out what was going on. It was a pretty comical way to end the half for the Redskins.

The Philadelphia Eagles Week 17 injury report is out, and running back LeSean McCoy will not play Sunday against the visiting Washington Redskins (1 p.m. on FOX) says ESPN's NFL Expert Adam Schefter. That means the NFC's leading rusher will not have a shot at the overall NFL rushing title, Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jacksonville Jaguars will earn the honor. McCoy was just 128 yards behind Jones-Drew entering the regular-season finale.
As for Philadelphia inactives, here they are:
WR Ronald Johnson
G Julian Vandervelde
DT Cedric Thornton
DT Mike Patterson
LB Greg Lloyd
CB Asante Samuel
As for Washington, it will be without
WR Aldrick Robinson
WR David Anderson
TE Richard Quinn
T Jammal Brown
DE Doug Worthington
DE Kentwan Balmer
LB Rocky McIntosh

With their aspirations gone, the Eagles are now focused solely on finishing a disappointing 2011 season on a positive note by winning their fourth straight, and they'll try to do so against one of the few clubs they've dominated this year--the division rival Washington Redskins.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick reflected on the Eagles season today and the future as his team heads for an early offseason after they were eliminated from playoff contention.
Vick on the realization that his season is ending on Sunday:
"Yeah, it was hard. I was just out on the field just saying to myself it wasn't supposed to end like this. But I think God has a defined plan for everything that goes on in everybody's lives and all of the guys in this locker room and it all remains to be seen. So we just have to keep the faith and keep believing and just pray that better days are ahead and I think they are."
Vick on the fans who were disappointed with the season Philadelphia has had:
"We're all going through it together. We want to win just as bad as they do and, you know, certain things just didn't happen the way that we wanted them to and this is where the chips fell. So hopefully, we're all disappointed and wish that the outcome could have been different but we apologize and hopefully we can give them want they want very soon."
Vick didn't want to go into details on what he wanted to work on during Sunday's game. He did say that he didn't feel any pressure to win a Super Bowl next season, although it will be a goal of his, as it is every season.

LeSean McCoy enters week 17 in second place both in the race for the NFL’s rushing title and for the the Eagles single season rushing record. However, it would take quite a feat for him to reach either. McCoy is 128 yards behind Maurice Jones-Drew for the rushing title, which if Jones-Drew gained no yards in week 17 would be a reachable point… but obviously MJD will continue to be the focal point of the Jags offense.
McCoy also trails Wilbert Montgomery by 208 yards for the Eagles single season rushing record. He says that either record would mean a lot to the team after the way this season has gone.
“It would mean a lot. It would mean a lot just with how the season’s went. You know, it would show the type of teammates I have that week-in and week-out helped me out to get it. And sometimes the linemen, they really want to get it.”
McCoy knows that a lot of things would have to right.
“Hopefully I can get it. A lot of things have to go right for me to get it, but I’m going to go out and play my heart out. I’m sure my linemen are going to do the same thing. But the main thing is winning and kind of go out on a good note. And it would just be even sweeter to get the record though.”
McCoy has already broken the Eagles single season record for total TDs and rushing TDs.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is questionable for the team's regular season finale against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, but coach Andy Reid said the Pro Bowler is expected to play.
McCoy missed Wednesday's practice after suffering an ankle sprain against the Dallas Cowboys this past weekend, but returned to the field in a limited fashion on Thursday and practiced fully on Friday. McCoy, who has rushed for 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, needs 203 yards on Sunday to tie the Eagles' single-season rushing record set by Wilbert Montgomery in 1979. He also trails Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jaguars by 128 yards for the NFL rushing title. McCoy says he's going to go after the records.
"Hopefully I can get it. A lot of things have to go right for me to get it, but I'm going to go out and play my heart out. I'm sure my linemen are going to do the same thing. But the main thing is winning and kind of go out on a good note. And it would just be even sweeter to get the record though."

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy returned to the team's practice on Thursday after spraining his ankle during Saturday's victory against the Dallas Cowboys.
"LeSean is at practice and participating. He just caught a pass from Duce in warmups," tweeted Reuben Frank of CSN Philadelphia.
After McCoy missed Wednesday's practice, coach Andy Reid said his star running back wanted to compete in Sunday's regular season finale against the Washington Redskins.
"Well, it's not a high ankle sprain so we'll just see how he does here. If he can play, he'll play. He wants to play. We'll see how he does," said Reid.
Cornerback Asante Samuel, who missed the Cowboys game due to a hamstring injury, was not on the field during the portion of Thursday's practice open to media. On Wednesday, Reid said Samuel's upper hamstring was experiencing some bleeding and it might be a stretch for the corner to play this weekend.
