Eagles Vs Giants Final Score: Birds Win Nailbiter 19-17

The Eagles squeaked by the rival New York Giants Sunday night with a 19-17 win at Lincoln Financial Field.

The game really was a tale of two halves, as the first two quarters were a mostly defensive struggle. The first points did not come until Michael Vick hit DeSean Jackson with a 19 yard TD pass with under 2 minutes left in the half. The Giants would respond with a FG in the final seconds. That last bit will be important to remember...

The second half was much more open as the offenses started to move. LeSean McCoy managed just 2 yards in the first half, but exploded in the second for 121. Michael Vick also used his legs running for 49 yards of his own. After the Eagles added another FG, Eli Manning his Victor Cruz with a 14 yard TD pass to tie the game at 10.

The Eagles would add two more FGs to take a 6 point lead, but as he often does, Eli Manning came alive in the 4th quarter and after a big gain to Domenic Hixon, Eli found a wide open Bear Pascoe for a 6 yard TD to put the Giants up 17-16.

Michael Vick once again led the Eagles down to the goal line, but the Giants defense held on 3 straight plays and the Eagles had to settle for a FG and a 19-16 lead.

Then it got nuts. With just under 2 minutes left, Eli Manning drove the Giants to near midfield when the refs made themselves known. They first flagged Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for what looked like a clear pass interference. That put the Giants near FG range and they got in after Nnamdi Asomugha was flagged for a very dubious interference call. But then, the Giants would be on the wrong end of a call as Ramses Barde absolutely mugged Nnamdi Asomugha, drawing a flag of his own. That moved a make-able FG back to to 54 yarder.

So on stepped Lawrence Tynes, who proceeded to shank the kick wide right. However, the Eagles celebration was short lived as it was revealed that Andy Reid had called a timeout. So Tynes had a second shot at a game winner and on attempt #2 he hit it straight down the middle... but short.

And that was the ball game. Eagles win 19-17.

Philadelphia moves to 3-1 on the season and become the first team in NFL history with each of their first 3 wins decided by 2 points or less. The Giants fall to 2-2 on the season, with both of their loses coming in the NFC East.
