Jason Peters Injury Update: Eagles' Tackle Undergoes Successful Achilles Surgery

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday afternoon that left tackle Jason Peters underwent successful surgery earlier Tuesday to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon.

The Eagles did not immediately release a timetable for Peters' recovery after the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Steve Raikin of the Rothman Institute at Jefferson Hospital. Similar injuries are known to come with a 9-12 month recovery process, which could potentially, albeit unlikely, leave open the possibility of a Peters return late in the 2012 season.

More likely seems that Peters will miss the entire 2012 season. The 30-year old has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last five seasons and the All-Pro team in four of the five, including when he was named First Team All-Pro for the first time in 2011.
