Stay connected for news and updates

The Philadelphia Eagles are interested in upgrading the tight end position before training camp, a source has told the Eagles blog Birds 24/7. The rumor was reported by Pro Football Talk on Tuesday. According to the 24/7 blog, two players Philly is interested in are former New York Giant Jeremy Shockey, as well as former Minnesota Viking Visanthe Shiancoe.

On Monday, Comcast SportsNet's Reuben Frank tweeted the Eagles will bring in Shockey, a four-time Pro Bowler, in for a physical at some point. Meanwhile, Shiancoe is expected to take a physical with Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Last season with the Carolina Panthers, Shockey, 31, caught 37 passes and four touchdowns.

Currently, the Eagles have Brent Celek and Brett Brackett as tight ends. However, Celek had hip surgery during the offseason and Brackett is just a rookie.
