The Philadelphia Eagles lost a spot in the SB Nation power rankings due to an extremely close call against the cellar-dwelling Cleveland Browns. Eagles fans won't be pleased to see where their next opponent, the Baltimore Ravens, stand in those rankings.
Normally a win is cause for excitement, but after the Philadelphia Eagles escaped the lowly Cleveland Browns by just a point, there's more concern than joy surrounding the squad.
The Eagles' defense forced rookie Brandon Weeden into four picks -- some might argue Weeden forced himself into those picks and the Eagles just happened to be there -- but Michael Vick returned the favor. A late touchdown gave the Eagles a 17-16 win, but when SB Nation's Joel Thorman still dropped Philly a spot in his Week 2 NFL Power Rankings.
13. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 12, 1-0): You'd like to see something better than a 1-point victory over the Browns (our No. 32 team last week) but a win is a win.
Even scarier than winning by the skin of their teeth against one of the league's worst teams for Philadelphia fans should be the team's next opponent. The Eagles carry on their tour of the AFC North with a game against the Baltimore Ravens, who Thorman put at the top of his rankings after a 44-13 thumping of the Cincinnati Bengals.
1. Baltimore Ravens (LW: 4, 1-0): The offense looked elite. We already know the defense is elite. Is this the best team in the NFL? A big road test in Philly next week will help answer that question.
Regardless of whether the Ravens are the league's best, their stout defense will certainly provide a test for an Eagles team that didn't look comfortable holding onto the ball Sunday.
