The Philadelphia Eagles are feeling good about themselves following a 19-17 defeat of the arch-rival New York Giants on Sunday night.
Philadelphia came into the contest a little bruised up, but they appear to have escaped without much further damage. Nnamdi Asomugha suffered an eye injury in the first half of the game but was able to return with a visor on his helmet. Original reports that Asomugha went to the hospital turned out to be incorrect.
Safety and special teams star Colt Anderson wasn't able to suit up against Big Blue due to a knee injury, and his status remains up in the air for Week 5.
Linebacker Akeem Jordan was also held out of Sunday's NFC East tilt with a hamstring ailment. Jordan is a solid young playmaker who the Eagles have missed. He's been replaced by Jamar Chaney and is also uncertain for next weekend's clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was only by a few feet, but the Philadelphia Eagles got a win over their divisional rivals the New York Giants, coming away 19-17 victors when Lawrence Tynes' field goal was just short.
Jason Brewer of Bleeding Green Nation took a moment to celebrate a team that is now 3-1 - with those three wins coming by a combined four points, thanks to some late-game heroics.
This is the 3rd time this season that the Eagles have won a game with a 4th quarter drive. And its the second time they've done it against a team considered a Super Bowl contender.
Leading the way for the Eagles was their quarterback, Michael Vick: after entering the game as the league leader in turnovers, the Eagles didn't cough up possession once, thanks in large part to a 241-yard performance by Vick:
We really saw a different Michael Vick tonight, one that looked more like the 2010 version we all fell in love with than the 2012 version that had his covering our eyes with every throw. Vick was decisive with his throws, he didn't take unnecessary chances and he ran the ball!
Jordan Raanan also pointed out Vick's outing, but also singled out backup cornerback Brandon Hughes when highlighting the game's best and worst players. Hughes filled in admirably after Nnamdi Asomugha left the game when Ramses Barden poked him in the eye:
He blanketed Giants wide receiver Dominik Hixon on two incompletions in the first quarter, and when he did step in to replace Asomugha, Hughes held his own as the Giants went right at him to begin the second half.
The Eagles head across the state to face the Pittsburgh Steelers next.

The Eagles squeaked by the rival New York Giants Sunday night with a 19-17 win at Lincoln Financial Field.
The game really was a tale of two halves, as the first two quarters were a mostly defensive struggle. The first points did not come until Michael Vick hit DeSean Jackson with a 19 yard TD pass with under 2 minutes left in the half. The Giants would respond with a FG in the final seconds. That last bit will be important to remember...
The second half was much more open as the offenses started to move. LeSean McCoy managed just 2 yards in the first half, but exploded in the second for 121. Michael Vick also used his legs running for 49 yards of his own. After the Eagles added another FG, Eli Manning his Victor Cruz with a 14 yard TD pass to tie the game at 10.
The Eagles would add two more FGs to take a 6 point lead, but as he often does, Eli Manning came alive in the 4th quarter and after a big gain to Domenic Hixon, Eli found a wide open Bear Pascoe for a 6 yard TD to put the Giants up 17-16.
Michael Vick once again led the Eagles down to the goal line, but the Giants defense held on 3 straight plays and the Eagles had to settle for a FG and a 19-16 lead.
Then it got nuts. With just under 2 minutes left, Eli Manning drove the Giants to near midfield when the refs made themselves known. They first flagged Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for what looked like a clear pass interference. That put the Giants near FG range and they got in after Nnamdi Asomugha was flagged for a very dubious interference call. But then, the Giants would be on the wrong end of a call as Ramses Barde absolutely mugged Nnamdi Asomugha, drawing a flag of his own. That moved a make-able FG back to to 54 yarder.
So on stepped Lawrence Tynes, who proceeded to shank the kick wide right. However, the Eagles celebration was short lived as it was revealed that Andy Reid had called a timeout. So Tynes had a second shot at a game winner and on attempt #2 he hit it straight down the middle... but short.
And that was the ball game. Eagles win 19-17.
Philadelphia moves to 3-1 on the season and become the first team in NFL history with each of their first 3 wins decided by 2 points or less. The Giants fall to 2-2 on the season, with both of their loses coming in the NFC East.

The Eagles and Giants are locked in a defensive battle that ended with just a spurt of offense at the very end. Philadelphia will take a slim 7-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.
After nearly 2 quarters of scoreless football and very little movement for either offense, the Eagles finally got rolling with an 11 play 70 yard drive that ended with 19 yard Michael Vick strike to DeSean Jackson. The Giants would hit right back when Eli Manning led the Giants on an 10 play, 81 yard drive that ended with a Lawrence Tynes FG.
Both QBs have been under constant pressure and yet there have been no sacks and no turnovers in this one. Michael Vick is 11-19 with 132 yards and a TD while Eli Manning has completed 14-26 for 151 yards. Neither team have been able to get anything going on the ground, in fact Michael Vick is the game's leading rusher with 19 yards.
Nnamdi Asomugha left the game late in the 2nd quarter after being poked in the eye by Giants WR Ramses Barden. There's no word yet on his return.

Riley Cooper, Dion Lewis, Colt Anderson, Akeem Jordan, King Dunlap, Nate Menkin and Vinny Curry are all inactive for tonight's game against the Giants.
With Dunlap out, Demetress Bell will start for the 2nd straight week. In place of Jordan, Jamar Chaney will get his first start of the season at the WILL.
One interesting name that is active tonight is Trent Edwards. Edwards has not been active since Week 1, and with all of the rumors swirling that Michael Vick might be on a short leash, Edwards could be active in case Nick Foles has to go in and things spiral out of control. Just a theory, but not a huge stretch in my mind.
Of course Dion Lewis is inactive again. Carrying 4 running backs has really worked out for the Eagles.
For the Giants, the inactives are Hakeem Nicks, David Diehl, Jayron Hosley, Keith Rivers, Adewale Ojomo, Mitch Petrus, and Adrien Robinson.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin was a full participant in Wednesday's practice after missing last Sunday's game against the Cardinals with a hip contusion. While Maclin practiced, rookie DT Fletcher Cox was among the Eagles who did not participate. Cox missed practice due to migraines and is going to visit the doctor on Thursday, but expects to play Sunday night against the New York Giants.
Also missing practice for the Eagles were OT King Dunlap (hamstring), LB Akeem Jordan (hamstring), LS Jon Dorenbos (ankle) and S Colt Anderson (knee). Dunlap is expected to miss his second straight game and Demetress Bell will start in his place. The Eagles did get WR Riley Cooper back at practice on Wednesday; he has yet to play this season after breaking his collarbone.
The Giants had a handful of injuries as well, including WR Hakeem Nicks who did not participate due to the foot injury that kept him out of their Week 3 contest. Also missing Wednesday's practice for the Giants were OT David Diehl (knee), CB Michael Coe (hamstring), CB Jayron Hosley (hamstring) and LB Keith Rivers (hamstring). Safety Antrel Rolle was limited with a knee injury. The Giants did have RB Ahmad Bradshaw back at practice, and he is expected to start against the Eagles.
