Days after Eagles firing, Andy Reid hired by Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid has found a new job just days after being fired by the Philadelphia Eagles, as he's reportedly been hired by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Andy Reid wasn't unemployed for long after being fired Monday by the Philadelphia Eagles, as the 54-year-old has reportedly been hired by the Kansas City Chiefs according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Reid had originally been reported as being extremely close to a deal with the San Diego Chargers, as he owns a home in Southern California. However, as the week went on, rumors grew stronger that Reid would talk to the Chiefs in addition to the Chargers and Arizona Cardinals. Thursday, it became clear he was near a deal with Kansas City, and Friday, the Chiefs fired general manager Scott Pioli hours before the news of Reid's imminent signing broke.

The Chiefs had fired Romeo Crennel Monday. In the time Reid has been in charge with Philadelphia, the Chiefs have gone through five head coaches, most recently Crennel, who was promoted from defensive coordinator to interim head coach after the firing of Todd Haley in 2011. The team went 2-14 under Crennel in 2012.

Reid had obviously been the coach of the Eagles for 14 years. It was his first head coaching job after several years as an assistant, first at the collegiate level, then from 1992 to 1998 with the Green Bay Packers. He had a 140-102-1 in his 14 years with the Eagles, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2004.

Reuben Frank of CSN Philly reports Reid's deal is for five years. With Pioli gone, Reid is expected to be in charge of a large portion of front office duties in addition to his coaching job.
