The prevailing message from the Flyers today in regards to the Chris Pronger injury appears to be "it could have been worse." The Flyers captain took a high stick to the eye in the Flyers 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs game last night. The team has since announced that he'll be out for around two weeks and will be wearing a visor when he returns. Head coach Peter Laviolette said that the team couldn't help but be worried when they saw what happened.

"I think anytime somebody sees an injury to the face, especially when you know it’s that area, the first thought is ‘I hope his eyes are all right’," said Laviolette.  "Certainly with the way he got up and off the ice the way that he did, I think that everybody got a pit in their stomach."

Lavy didn't say whether the team would go ahead with six defenseman in his absence or whether they'd call up someone from their AHL affiliate, but he did say that he thought the team would be ok without him.

"Injuries are a part of it," said Laviolette. "Every team goes through it. You have to deal with it and you have to get by. We’d much rather have him in there; he’s a world-class defenseman. In saying that, we were able to manage without him last night and we’re going to have to do it moving forward."
