The Philadelphia Flyers host the streaking Phoenix Coyotes Thursday night (7 p.m., CSN-PH), giving Ilya Bryzgalov an opportunity to face his old mates.
Bryzgalov, who signed a $51 million contract with Philadelphia after four seasons with Phoenix, has posted a 4-0-1 record in his last five starts, bouncing back after a slow start to the season. He told the Philadelphia Inquirer facing his old team is special.
"The Phoenix Coyotes. The other side. You're in a different jersey," Bryzgalov said. "Ah, I don't know. It's special. It's my former team. I have lots of friends. I can't forget the time I played there. It's going to be a very special game. It was good years."
The Coyotes have thrived despite losing Bryzgalov this offseason. Exceeding preseason expectations, Phoenix has compiled a surprising 9-4-3 record that leaves the Coyotes just one point behind Dallas for the Pacific Division lead.
The Flyers also enter the game with momentum, with a two-game win streak and a 6-2-2 record during their last ten games.
