Sidney Crosby Will Not Play Tonight Vs Flyers

The Flyers won't face Sidney Crosby on tonight. The Penguins star is sitting out as a precaution after taking a hard hit on Monday night.

Penguins star Sidney Crosby will sit out two games, including Pittsburgh's game tonight vs. the Flyers, following a hard hit he took on Monday night vs. the Bruins. Crosby has recently returned from a long injury hiatus after suffering a concussion last season.

Crosby took some tests and appears to be OK, but did not feel 100 percent and the Penguins are not inclined to take any chances with him. He did not travel to Philadelphia with the team.

More from Travis Hughes at Broad Street Hockey:

Let's be happy that it doesn't appear to be a serious setback, and let's hope it doesn't become anything serious. But I guess we don't have to pretend that we're upset he won't be playing against our team, either.

Now, this means we won't get to see that much debated showdown between Crosby and Claude Giroux. But, I mean, Max Talbot said Giroux is at the same level as Crosby, so I guess that's been settled already anyway.

Against Boston, Crosby collided with teammate Chris Kunitz near center ice and was slow to get up. He did return to action in the game. Crosby had played in eight games this season since his return to the ice and had already notched 12 points.
