The NHL announced that they will be holding a press conference today at Citizens Bank Park, beginning at 1:30 p.m. It seems a fairly safe assumption that this will be the official announcement of the 2012 Winter Classic between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers.

The announcement is later than usual, which has led some to believe that the jerseys worn by each team will be revealed today as well. In other words, today is likely to reveal a lot.

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that the Flyers will be represented by Chris Pronger, Matt Carle, James van Riemsdyk, and Scott Hartnell, though Hartnell’s presence may be hampered by the disclosure of his rapid heart beat.

The press conference will be streamed live on the NHL Network, NHL.com, and each of the official team sites for the Flyers, Rangers, and Phillies.
