NHL Lockout: Ilya Bryzgalov fighting with Russian media

Eric Hartline-US PRESSWIRE

Ilya Bryzgalov wants the lockout to end immediately.

Many people involved with the NHL are rooting for the current lockout to end as soon as possible so business can return to normal.

Perhaps nobody fits that description more than Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Russian net-minder has been playing in his home country to pass the time, but things haven't been going so well. Bryzgalov is only 2-4 in the KHL with CSKA, and has a hefty 2.92 goals-against average to accompany his underwhelming .891 save percentage.

After a game back on Nov. 2, Bryzgalov lost his cool and verbally lashed out at a reporter, according to CSNPhilly.com.

What do you want me to say? You've been writing filth about me and now you are asking for an interview. Go look around; there are so many good players. You can go talk to them. Why me? In reality, my wife, Zhenya, forbade me from giving interviews and so did my parents. If you call them in Togliatti and they give you their permission, then I might do it. Do you think I'm joking? No, I'm not joking in this case. I am telling the truth.

It's not unusual for Bryzgalov to be unusual, but normally that doesn't result in him throwing a temper tantrum. It certainly must be a frustrating time for the goalie, who finds himself playing lackluster hockey for a team he can't really call his own.

For now, Bryzgalov will have to suck it up until the labor negotiations are settled between the NHL and the players association.
