Philadelphia snapped a two-game losing skid with a 7-2 thrashing of the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Down 2-0 after the first period, the Flyers responded with seven unanswered goals, two each by Wayne Simmonds and Max Talbot. Simmonds needed 25 stitches after busting open his lips while taking an errant puck to the face during warmups, but netted both of his scores while wearing a full shield to cover his face.

The Penguins have won two out of three, but dropped their last outing against the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Wednesday night. Pittsburgh allowed a Teemu Selane goal midway through the third period to ruin a solid performance by goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who finished with 27 saves. Evgeni Malkin has been on a tear with nine points in his last five games for the Penguins, but was held scoreless Wednesday to snap a five-game scoring streak.
