Flyers Vs. Islanders Final Score: Ilya Brzygalov Sets Franchise Record Shutout Streak In 3-2 Win

Ilya Bryzgalov set a franchise record by not allowing a goal until the 13:30 mark of the third period during Thursday's game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders. He went more than 240 minutes over the previous three games and change without letting in a goal, surpassing John Vanbiesbrouck's 227:40 mark. The Flyers led 3-0 before Michael Grabner finally beat Bryzgalov on a tip-in off a shot by Mark Streit. Just 35 seconds later John Tavares scored from 11 feet away off another assist from Streit, and what was a blowout suddenly turned tense.

Bryzgalov held the rest of the way, however, giving the Flyers a 3-2 win on the road. He stopped 27 straight shots on net to start the game, and stopped two more after the Isles tightened things up to finish with 29 saves. On the other end of the ice, Evgeni Nabokov stopped 19 of 22 shots on goal in a much shakier outing. He has now given up at least three goals in eight of his last nine outings.

Zac Rinaldo kicked off the scoring with a 40-foot wristshot for just his second goal of the season. Then more familiar names chipped in. Claude Giroux notched his 26th goal this year off an assist by Jaromir Jagr, and Scott Hartnell scored his 33rd goal of the year with help from Kimmo Timonen to provide the winning margin.
