Flyers Vs. Capitals Final Score: Philadelphia Wins 2-1 After Shootout

Claude Giroux scored the Philadelphia Flyers' only goal in regulation, his 27th of the season, to send Thursday night's game against the Washington Capitals into overtime. After a scoreless period of OT, the Flyers scored two goals during the shootout, capped by Wayne Simmonds on the team's fourth attempt.

Ilya Bryzgalov was stellar once again, turning back 30 shots against in regulation. Matt Hendricks beat him with a backhand on the Caps' first attempt of the shootout. Bryzgalov turned back Washington's next three attempts, however.

Alex Ovechkin put Washington up 1-0 on an unassisted goal just 26 seconds into the first period. Giroux's equalizer came in the second period on a wrister from 10-feet out, assisted by Jaromir Jagr. Matt put the Flyers up 1-0 during the shootout on the team's first attempt. Caps goalie Braden Holtby turned back 28 shots faced in regulation.
