NHL Draft Results 2012: Philadelphia Flyers Select Goalie Anthony Stolarz in Round 2

The Philadelphia Flyers used their second-round pick (No. 45 overall) in Saturday's 2012 NHL Draft to select goalie Anthony Stolarz, who played with the Corpus Christi IceRays of the NAHL this past season.

Stolarz, a 6-foot-5, 210-pounder who has signed to play at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, was actually cut by two Eastern Junior Hockey League team's last summer. But the 18-year old landed with Corpus Christi and impressed, posting a .920 save percentage and 2.84 goals-against average.

The Flyers used their first-round pick Friday night to select Scott Laughton, a 6-foot, 177-pound center who played with Oshawa of the OHL during the past season.

Laughton was fifth on Oshawa in points with 21 goals and 32 assists for 52 points. He also played for the Canadian national team at the 2011 Under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament -- and he was the hero, scoring the game-winning goal in the gold medal game.
