Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard is making progress with his rehab from a ruptured Achilles tendon. He is off of his crutches and into a walking boot. He was seen in the boot while he was at City Hall today.
Howard was at City Hall to announce a $1.2 million donation to the Philadelphia School District from the Ryan Howard Family Foundation. The donation includes $750,000 worth of Adidas shoes.
"It makes it feel a little bit lighter to be able to give," said Howard, who didn't go into detail about his rehab. "I feel good. I'm doing fine. Like I said, it's all about the kids today." (via Philly.com)
Howard tore his Achilles tendon on the final out of the Phillies' 2011 season in Game Five of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
