Carlos Ruiz On The Cover Of Sports Illustrated, Not Derek Jeter (locally)

[Note by JasonB, 07/12/11 11:41 AM EDT ] All Things Philly Sports pointed out to me that this is in fact just a regional cover. So while Jeter did make the national cover of the mag, the fine folks at SI decided to spare those of us in Philly. Cool nonetheless.

You might have thought Derek Jeter would be on the cover of this week's Sports Illustrated after getting his 3,000th hit and the lovefest that followed... and you'd be right. If you squint and look at the top left corner, he is there. However, the real cover boy (here in Philly that is) is none other than Chooch. And as a bonus, they used one of those awesome pics from the St. Louis series at the end of June with the amazing sky.
