Phils, Eagles, Sixers, Flyers... are you 4 for 4?
Just a day after winning the vote for the final All Star game spot, Shane Victorino was placed on the 15 day DL and will miss the midsummer classic as well as the important Braves series starting tonight. The move was made retroactive to July 4th, so he should be available to come off on July 19th.
Victorino has been suffering from a sprained thumb (and probably bruised ego) after slipping and falling while trying to throw a ball in Toronto. Pete Orr has been recalled from AAA to take his place on the roster.
Earlier this week, Charlie Manuel's update on Victorino made it seem like he was destined for a DL stint.
"He can't grip the ball, and it's hard to grip the bat," Manuel said.
Two fairly important skills for a ball player...
