Phillies Vs. Padres Final Score: San Diego Shuts Down Philadelphia Offense In 5-1 Win

Roy Halladay pitched well enough to win, throwing seven strong innings and allowing just two runs, but his efforts proved futile for the Phillies on Saturday night, as they fell 5-1 to the Padres in San Diego.

It wasn't until the top of the ninth inning that Philadelphia was able to generate anything offensively, when Ty Wiggington's double off of Huston Street scored Jimmy Rollins for the lone Phillies run. The offense continues to spoil solid outing from their starting pitchers, and it will need to pick it up even more as Cliff Lee heads to the DL with an oblique strain.

Cory Luebke went eight innings to earn his second win of the season for San Diego, who has now won their first game in three tries this series.

Joe Blanton will oppose Anthony Bass in the series finale on Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. EST.
