Scott Podsednik Traded To Boston Red Sox From Philadelphia Phillies Organization

Stay connected for news and updates

The Philadelphia Phillies announced they have traded Scott Podsednik to the Boston Red Sox Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

Podsednik, 36, played 22 games for Philadelphia's Triple-A affiliate, Lehigh Valley, batting .203 with four RBI and six stolen bases.

An outfielder with all kinds of speed, Podsednik led the National League with 70 stolen bases while with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004. He was named an All-Star the following season with the Chicago White Sox, but hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010.

The Red Sox have been thin in the outfield since Carl Crawford had offseason surgery and Jacoby Ellsbury likewise landed on the disabled list during the first month of the season.
