Philadelphia Phillies starter Joe Blanton couldn't match Boston Red Sox starter Jon Lester Saturday, as the Phils' had their six-game winning streak snapped in a 7-5 loss at Citizen Bank Park. Blanton lasted just 4 1/3 innings allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits, while Lester went six innings giving up four runs to collect his third win of the season.
The Red Sox smashed four home runs, the last being a two-run blast by designated hitter David Ortiz, who helped Boston take a 7-4 lead in the fifth inning.
Philadelphia's offense totaled a game-best 15 hits, but went just 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position.
The three-game inter-league set concludes Sunday afternoon (1:05 p.m. ET) when Cliff Lee opposes Josh Beckett.
