The Philadelphia Phillies look to build on Wednesday's win as Joe Blanton takes the mound Thursday to begin a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals.
One day after Cole Hamels put an end to the Philadelphia Phillies' losing skid, they begin a three-game series on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday night. (Game Time: 8:15 p.m., TV Schedule: PHL 17, MLB Network)
Hamels threw eight scoreless innings to put an end to Philadelphia's four-game losing streak. The lefty struck out eight and allowed just four hits while baffling the Washington Nationals in a 4-1 win.
The Phillies will turn to Joe Blanton (4-4, 3.74 ERA) in hopes of keeping the good vibrations rolling. Blanton was shelled in his previous start, surrendering seven runs on four home runs in just 4 1/3 innings against the Boston Red Sox, but was 3-0 with a 2.10 ERA in his four starts before that.
Jake Westbrook (4-3, 2.41 ERA) gets the ball for the Cardinals.
