Raul Valdes Recalled: Philadelphia Phillies Recall Pitcher From Triple-A

Stay connected for news and updates

The Philadelphia Phillies have recalled relief pitcher Raul Valdes from Triple-A Lehigh Valley (via Philly.com).

Valdes, 34, will replace catcher Erik Kratz on the Phils 25-man roster. Kratz has played five games for the Phillies in 2012 and is hitting .250. Valdes was sent down to the minors about two weeks ago so that the Phillies could bring in a right-handed pitcher to the bullpen. With Valdes back on the roster, Philadelphia will have four left-handers in the pen.

Valdes is 2-0 on the season with a 2.13 ERA. He's struck out 13 batters, given up three earned runs and walked just one batter in 11 appearances for the Phillies. In the minors, Valdes struck out 10 batters in his last six innings and allowed zero runs.
