Chase Utley Update: Utley Plays Eight Innings At Second Base

Stay connected for news and updates

Chase Utley continues to gear up for a return to the Philadelphia Phillies, giving his clearest indication Saturday night that his rehab assignment may be coming to an end sooner than later.

As reported by Phillies beat writer Ryan Lawrence, Utley played eight innings at second base for the Clearwater Threshers on Saturday in a 7-2 victory over the Daytona Cubs. Utley finished 0-3 but did record an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was his second straight start for the Threshers and his ninth overall rehab appearance.

The Phillies will complete a doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday before embarking on a four game homestand against the Pittsburgh Pirates beginning on Monday, June 25.
