Phillies Vs. Mets Postponed; Makeup Scheduled For Thursday

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets won't play the second game of their three-game set Tuesday night due to rain, as the game has been postponed until 7:10 p.m. Thursday.

Both teams had a mutual off-day on Thursday. Matt Gelb of Philly.com reports that the Phillies would have preferred to play a double-header Wednesday allowing them to keep the free day later in the week, but that the Mets chose to play one game a day. The Phillies would have been able to return home to Philadelphia a day earlier before this weekend's series against the Atlanta Braves, but instead, they're going to have to stay in New York until after the conclusion of Thursday night's game.

The pitching matchups for the series will apparently remain the same, with Cole Hamels still taking the mound Wednesday against the Mets Matt Harvey, while Phillies' rookie Tyler Cloyd, who was scheduled to play in the rained-out Tuesday game, will be the starter Thursday night against Jeremy Hefner.
