Phillies vs. Rockies Final Score: Phillies Win In Ninth 3-2

Stay connected for news and updates

The Phillies won the first game of a double header against the Colorado Rockies 3-2 on a game winning single by Cameron Mayberry Jr. in the bottom of the ninth.

Cole Hamels pitched seven strong innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out six. He didn't get a decision though as the Phillies offense struggled to put up runs against the Rockies.

Jonathan Papelbon pitched a scoreless ninth for the victory.

The Phillies tied the game 2-2 in the third inning off a Ryan Howard double to center field, but they would have to wait for some last inning heroics before they could prepare for the second game today.

The Phillies have now won three straight as they try to mount a playoff run. The NL East crown is virtually out of reach, but the Phillies sit six games out of the wild card race with the victory.

The second game of the double header begins at 3:35 ET.
