Starting XI Personnel Decisions Highlight Tough Road Battle For The Union

The Philadelphia Union are without starting defenders Danny Califf (center back) and Jordan Harvey (left back) tonight, and Peter Nowak's starting line up clearly shows those loses.

Harvey was lost for tonight's game against the Portland Timbers because of a red card that he received during the Union's game, last week, against the San Jose Earthquakes. Califf was ruled out by the team because of an undisclosed illness.

The Union's Farfan twins, Michael and Gabriel, will both start along the back four, becoming the first set of twins to ever start a game in MLS play.

Philadelphia Starting XI: Foryd Mondragon; Michael Farfan, Carlos ValdesStefani Miglioranzi, Gabriel Farfan, Sheanon Williams; Sebastien Le Toux, Amobi Okugo, Brian Carroll, Justin Mapp; Danny Mwanga, Carlos Ruiz

Philadelphia Bench: Zac MacMath, Roger Torres, Gabirel Farfan, Chris Agorsor, Ryan Richter, Kyle Nakazawa, Jack McInerney

Portland Starting XI: Troy Perkins; Rodney Wallace, Manadou Danso, Eric Brunner, Jeremy Hall; Kalif Alhassan, Jack Jewsbury, Diego Chara, Darlington Nagbe; Jorge Perlaza, Kenny Cooper

Portland Bench: Jake Gleeson, David Horst, Steve Purdy, Sal Zizzo, James Marcelin, Adam Moffat, Ryan Pore
