Stay connected for news and updates

Jack McInerney scored on a header past Matt Reis in the 90th minute to give the Philadelphia Union a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution on Sunday night at PPL Park. Sheanon Williams provided the cross to the left side of the six-yard box, and McInerney buried the ball in the bottom left corner of the net.

The Union were down 1-0 for most of the game after Saer Sene buried the ball in the upper right corner of the net past keeper Zac MacMath from outside the box in the 12th minute. McInerney was able to draw a foul in the penalty box off Kevin Alston in the 59th minute, however, giving Freddy Adu a PK on Reis. Adu planted the ball in the bottom left corner of the net to tie the game.

The Union controlled much of the match, holding possession 59 percent of the time and forcing seven corners to three for the Revolution. New England matched Philadelphia with five shots on goal, however.
