The Union lose a crazy match to Columbus, 3-2

The Columbus Crew got a very important three points on Saturday night, beating the Philadelphia Union 3-2 in a crazy match at Columbus Crew Stadium.

Columbus held a 2-0 lead after the first half on two goals by Jairo Obando Arrieta, one in the 44th minute and one in stoppage time. However, the match became frantic in the second half with both sides going for broke.

Philadelphia cut the lead in half when Danny Cruz scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute, then the Union tied the score at two on a Roger Torres marker at 86'.

Incredibly, the Crew struck with a quick and decisive blow just one minute later when Milovan Mirosevic put Columbus up for good, 3-2.

The Union controlled possession for 57 percent of the match, but couldn't hold off a desperate Crew team. With the victory, Columbus vaulted itself into fifth place and the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with Houston's game still in progress.
