Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

From Marc Narducci of Philly.com: The St. Joseph's Hawks played shutdown defense to hold the Yale Bulldogs to only 35 points, winning comfortably behind 20 points from Langston Galloway in their season opener Monday night.

There were plenty of rough offensive edges to work out for St. Joseph's in the opening of a basketball season with high expectations, but the defense was in midseason form.

Despite long stretches of offensive inconsistency, the Hawks beat Yale, 61-35, Monday night in a Coaches vs. Cancer Classic game at Hagan Arena.
