Philadelphia could use some help defensively, something Star Lotulelei would provide in the middle.

In SB Nation's latest NFL mock draft, Dan Kadar has the Utah Utes defensive tackle Star Lotulelei being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 4 overall pick.

Lotulelei is the type of player who can immediately upgrade the middle of the defensive line, replacing the aging and departed Cullen Jenkins, who left for the rival New York Giants.

Philadelphia has a lot of holes on both sides of the ball, but every NFL man knows the way to build a team is up the middle. Lotulelei will help to stuff the run and push the pocket, making the linebackers and corners more impactful on every down.

At 6'2'' and 311 pounds, Lotulelei had 41 tackles and five sacks for Utah as a senior.

Other options for Philadelphia could include quarterback, with many pundits believing Geno Smith of the West Virginia Mountaineers could land in the city of brotherly love. Also keep an eye on Dion Jordan, an outside linebacker/defensive end who played for Chip Kelly with the Oregon Ducks.

Could the Eagles be grabbing the draft's top quarterback with their first-round pick?

While many teams may hope for instant improvement with the No. 4 pick in the NFL Draft, the Eagles appear to be looking beyond 2013 with their selection. Quarterback Michael Vick has proven to be unreliable, and Philadelphia may be looking to prepare a replacement.

The West Virginia quarterback is unlikely to start next year, but it's never too early to look for the next franchise leader:

How can a team drafting in the top five take a backup quarterback? Because starter Michael Vick is entering the final year of his contract. Multiple trusted reporters and analysts have been penciling in Smith to the Eagles, so it may not be smoke screen.

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah agrees with Fairburn, and has the Eagles picking Smith. Akbar Gbaja-Biamila also has the Eagles selecting Joeckel, but they would be passing on Smith in his projection. Charles Davis agrees that Philadelphia won't go the quarterback direction and has it picking Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner instead.

Could the Philadelphia Eagles wind up with Luke Joeckel if the Kansas City Chiefs elect to go in a different direction?

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of those teams that many expect to be decent each year, but they've fallen flat more often than not in recent seasons. They fell very, very flat in 2012, finishing with just four wins, and they now have a top-five pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Obviously, they don't want to be in that position. But at the very least, they are capable of landing one of the top talents in the nation at No. 4. They have a long list of needs on both sides of the ball, but most believe the offense needs some retooling on the offensive line and at quarterback.

Don Banks of SI.com put out his latest mock draft on Wednesday, and he has the Eagles going with offensive tackle Luke Joeckel out of Texas A&M:

I still can't pull the trigger on the Eagles taking West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith, because my sense is Chip Kelly views Florida State's E.J. Manuel a more viable option early in the second round. In Joeckel, the Eagles get one of the draft's elite offensive tackles and give themselves alternatives as both starters at the position, Jason Peters and Todd Herremans, return from injury-marred 2012 seasons.

Joeckel would be a huge get for the Eagles at No. 4, especially since many believe he will be gone by then. The Kansas City Chiefs have been the popular destination for Joeckel, and they hold the No. 1 pick in the draft. Banks has them going with Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher, however.

Eric Fisher is still projected to go to the Eagles in SB Nation's new mock draft. Their second round pick may surprise.

Not much has changed for the Philadelphia Eagles in draft speculation. The top 5 is as murky as any class in recent memory, but projections for Philly's No. 4 pick remain fairly stable. It's what they do in the later rounds that could be interesting.

SB Nation's Matthew Fairburn released a three-round mock draft on Monday. As usual, he expects the Eagles to take Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher:

The Eagles offensive line is largely dependent on Jason Peters, who is coming off another major injury. Eric Fisher has solidified his place in the top five picks; it's just a matter of which team will draft him. Teams could be looking to trade ahead of the Lions to secure Fisher, but ultimately, the Eagles could use the talent up front.

Things get interesting in the second round, where Fairburn projects Philly to draft Florida State QB E.J. Manuel. There are rumors that Manuel could go in the first round, so even though the No. 35 spot is too high for some draft experts, it's a minor steal given how overvalued QBs usually are in the draft. Plus, with Michael Vick still in the fold, there won't be any pressure for the toolsy but raw Manuel to make an immediate impact. Here's Fairburn's take:

E.J. Manuel isn't among my top five quarterbacks in this draft, but I don't make the picks. Manuel fits Chip Kelly's new offense and has upside. That may be enough for him to land at the top of the second round.

In the third round, the Eagles select LSU DT Bennie Logan, another piece to help fill out Chip Kelly's 3-4 defense.

Check out Fairburn's complete mock draft at the link below.

The Final Four game between Michigan and Syracuse provides a classic offense-vs.-defense matchup.

The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines and No. 4 Syracuse Orange square off in the Final Four of the 2013 NCAA Tournament on Saturday for a berth in the National Championship game.

The Wolverines got to the national semifinal round by defeating South Dakota State, VCU, Kansas and Florida. Mitch McGary's emergence has been vital to Michigan's success. He leads the Wolverines with 17.5 points per game, more than 10 points higher than his season average. McGary also leads all players with 46 total rebounds in the tournament, good for 11.5 per contest.

McGary and Trey Burke, who is tops among tournament players in total assists, will face their strongest defensive opponent to date. Syracuse has held its four tournament foes — Montana, California, Indiana and Marquette — to a combined 28.9-percent clip from the field, best among all teams in the Big Dance. The Orange kept three of those teams under the 50-point mark while employing their signature 2-3 zone defense.

The Eagles could go a few different ways in the NFL Draft, but Philadelphia is projected to take Dee Milliner in one of the latest mock drafts.

Dee Milliner is one of best prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft, and the former Alabama cornerback could end up in Philadelphia, according to one of the latest mock drafts.

The Eagles are projected to select Milliner with the No. 4 pick in the latest mock draft from Don Banks of Sports Illustrated. The 6'0 Milliner left Alabama following his junior season. He is ranked by most draft analysts as the top cornerback available, and one of the top defenders. He's also widely considered to be a top-10 talent and, as Banks wrote, he's one of a few players the Eagles may consider.

Banks also mentions quarterback Geno Smith and left tackle Eric Fisher as other possibilities for the Eagles. Fisher is the Eagles' pick in the latest mock draft from SB Nation's Dan Kadar. The Eagles had issues along the offensive line last season, making Fisher a logical selection. Todd Herremans and Jason Peters are scheduled to return next year, but both are coming off injury.

With Fisher, Milliner or even Smith, the Eagles would come away with one of the best prospects in the draft and a potential Week 1 starter.

Philadelphia has a number of holes but can fill one with the addition of Fisher along the offensive front.

In the latest edition of SB Nation's NFL mock draft by Dan Kadar, the Philadelphia Eagles bolstered their offensive line with the selection of Central Michigan Chippewas left tackle Eric Fisher with the fourth overall pick.

Fisher is the second-rated tackle on the board for many and the first for some, only behind Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel, who is mocked to the Kansas City Chiefs here.

At 6'7 and 305 pounds, Fisher is an animal who has great strength and solid technique. Fisher has the ability to get out into space and wreck the second level of a defense while more than holding his own in the pass game, stonewalling many defensive linemen.

In new head coach Chip Kelly's system, Fisher's mobility could be the perfect fit.

Despite having Jason Peters on the left side, Philadelphia might be hard-pressed to say its set in that spot, considering Peters is coming off a torn Achilles tendon. At right tackle, Todd Herremans is good but certainly upgradable, making Fisher an ideal candidate for the Eagles.
