Al Golden took a practically nonexistent Temple football program and built them into a respectable unit in just a few seasons. He took over a program which had won three games in their three previous seasons and after a rough first year, he won 26 games over the next four years. Last year he lead the team to its first bowl game in 30 years and had them bowl eligible once again this season. Now, he's being rewarded for that success... just not from Temple. Comcast SportsNet has confirmed that Al Golden has accepted the head football coach job at University of Miami.
He'll reportedly make $8 million over four years in Miami. Golden has absolutely earned it and while Owls fans will hate to see him go, I'm sure they'll wish him luck. He is scheduled to be introduced at a press conference on Monday at 6pm in Miami.
Miami athletic director Kirby Holcutt issued this statement.
