Big 5 rivals Temple and Penn face off at The Palestra on Monday night.
Temple is the bully in this matchup, having won four straight against the Quakers, not to mention the fact that the Owls are led by former Quaker coach Fran Dunphy.
Temple open their 2011-12 season and return four seniors from a team that won 26 games last year and made a fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. Despite the loss of Lavoy Allen, the Owls are once again consider contenders in the Atlantic 10 conference with lead guard Juan Fernandez running the show.
Penn, a traditional Ivy power, is coming off a down year in which the Quakers finished below .500. Penn opened its season on Friday with a win against University of Maryland -- Baltimore County.
