Temple Basketball: Owls Survive Upset Scare From Fordham

Stay connected for news and updates

This one started out pretty much as everyone expected. The heavily favored Temple Owls dominated Fordham from tipoff, building a lead that reached 25 points in the first half. Temple looked like they’d they cover the 21 point spread with ease… Then they went cold. Ice cold.

Temple would miss 18 of its first 20 shots to open the second half and let the visiting Rams come all the way back to within three. But Fran Dunphy’s squad would wake up and secure their fifth straight win, 77-66. Fordham’s Chris Gaston led all scorers with 27, while Ramone Moore paced Temple with 22. The win puts the Owls just a half game back of the Atlantic 10 lead.

For Fordham, it was their 12th straight loss as they sit in the basement of the conference.

The biggest takeaway from tonight could be the health of Lavoy Allen, who left the game late with what looked like a ankle injury. Allen had recorded a season high 14 rebounds before he went down. Check back in this stream for any updates on the severity of Allen’s ankle. The Owls have a tough road game at Dayton this Saturday.
