The Kentucky Wildcats kept the Kansas Jayhawks at bay throughout the second half of Monday night's 2012 NCAA Championship Game to hold on for a 67-59 win. Anthony Davis was held in check offensively, but dominated everywhere else. He finished with 16 rebounds, six blocks, five assists and three steals to go with six points.
The Wildcats led by double digits until the 4:17 mark of the second half, when a Tyshawn Taylor and-1 brought the Jayhawks to within nine. The play was part of an 8-0 run that finished with Kentucky up just seven points and suddenly in a competitive ball game. The Jayhawks pulled within five points with 1:37 to go, and had a chance to bring the game to within one possession but turned the ball over. Forced to the line, Kentucky made 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to seal the game.
Tyshawn Taylor played valiantly late, making his first 3-pointer of the tournament to finish with 19 points. Thomas Robinson scored 18, but went just 6-for-17 from the field. He did haul in 17 rebounds, however, in a very competitive battle with Davis in the paint. Jeff Withey added four blocked shots and seven rebounds to go with five points.
The Wildcats finished with 11 blocked shots to five for the Jayhawks. Kentucky also won the rebounding battle 39 to 34. Kansas shot just 35.5 percent from the floor, held in check by an incredibly impressive defensive performance. The title was the Wildcats' eighth in program history.

The Kentucky Wildcats are all over the Kansas Jayhawks, 41-27, at halftime of the 2012 NCAA Championship Game. Anthony Davis has more than lived up to his player of the year billing so far, even though he has yet to score a single point. He already has nine rebounds, four assists and three bocked shots through 20 minutes.
While Kentucky was the near consensus favorite heading into the game, many thought that Kansas might matcchup well inside. So far that hasn't been the case, with the Wildcats leading the rebounding battle 24 to 14. Thomas Robinson leads the Jayhawks with eight points and six rebounds so far.
Doron Lamb leads all scorer with 12 points. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist chipped in another 11 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats. Tyshawn Taylor also has eight points for the Jayhawks.

It started with 68 teams trying to realize a dream. Now we're down to four squads desperate to take home the hardware after coming so far.
The 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament has been one of the most competitive and thrilling in recent memory. It's been an incredible journey for the Louisville Cardinals, Kentucky Wildcats, Ohio State Buckeyes and Kansas Jayhawks. The tourney has come to its final destination and has four great teams ready to go for it all.
For an updated NCAA bracket, click here.
Every one of these teams have earned their way to New Orleans in a different way. Louisville wasn't expected to be here, but after surprising Michigan State in the Sweet Sixteen and fighting from 11 down in the latter stages of the second half against Billy Donovan and Florida, Rick Pitino's kids have shown serious mental toughness.
Kentucky has blitzed its adversaries, taking down Indiana and Baylor in convincing fashion last week. The Wildcats are the large and deserving favorites to win the title for the first time since 1998. However, an Bluegrass state battle with Louisville will be a massive hurtle, especially considering the discord between John Calipari and Pitino.
Ohio State has played wonderful basketball once again under Thad Motta. After beating a very game Gonzaga team, Jared Sullinger and the Buckeyes took care of Cincinnati and then the No.1 seeded Syracuse Orange to win the East bracket. No team has a better mix of experience and ability.
Kansas is a team that has stunned many experts all year. Thomas Robinson has led the Jayhawks most of the season. Tyshawn Taylor put on an incredible show that included 22 points to beat a dinged up Tar Heels team. Give Bill Self credit, he continues to show what a phenomenal coach he's become.
The schedule for the Final Four is as follows:
(4) Louisville vs. (1) Kentucky 6:09 p.m. ET on CBS
(2) Kansas vs. (2) Ohio State 8:49 p.m. ET on CBS

The Kentucky Wildcats and the Kansas Jayhawks won in convincing fashion Sunday to round out the Final Four field in New Orleans. The Wildcats never trailed after the 13-minute mark of the first half, at one point building a 23-point lead before defeating the 3-seed Baylor Bears 82-70. The Kansas Jayhawks had a little tougher time with the North Carolina Tar Heels, but a 12-0 run to end the game eventually gave them a 80-67 victory.
The Wildcats and Jayhawks will take on the winners of Saturday's Elite Eight games. The Ohio State Buckeyes took out the Syracuse Orange to set up a date with the Jayhawks in the NCAA Tournament's semifinals. The Louisville Cardinals smothered the Michigan State Spartans, creating a rematch with hated rival Kentucky.
Here's Saturday's Final Four game times and TV Schedule:
Saturday March 31
Louisville vs. Kentucky, 6:09 p.m. ET, CBS
Ohio State vs. Kansas, 8:49 p.m. ET, CBS

A pair of teams punched their tickets to New Orleans for the Final Four on Saturday night, as Louisville came from behind to overtake Florida in the West Regional final, while the second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes upended top-seeded Syrcause in the East region.
Their opponents for the national semifinal will be determined tomorrow, but for now the Buckeyes and Cardinals can enjoy benchmark wins for their respective programs.
Louisville, behind 36 points from Russ Smith and Chane Behanan, was able to erase an eight point halftime deficit against Florida and reach the program's eighth Final Four in school history.
Ohio State and Syracuse battled in a back and forth contest in front of a raucous crowd at the TD Garden in Boston. Each team ran into early second half foul trouble, and ultimately 19 points from Jared Sullinger pushed the Buckeyes to victory.
Kansas and North Carolina and Baylor and Kentucky will square off tomorrow, with the winners rounding out the Final Four participants.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks led by 15 points in the first half, and appeared poised to continue their run as bracket busters in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Xavier Musketeers rallied to pull within four points at intermission, however, and continued to distance themselves to open the second half. The Mountain Hawks fought back, but ultimately fell, 70-58, to end their improbable run.
The Musketeers led by as many as seven points in the second half. The Mountain Hawks were able to tie the game at 52 apiece as Xavier went 5:30 without a field goal. Terrell Holloway made a 3-pointer to end the Musketeers' drought, however, and his team never looked back. Lehigh did not score a point over the next seven-plus minutes until a Mackey McKnight 3-pointer pulled them within five with 1:08 left in the game. Unfortunately, it was too little too late.
C.J. McCollum was limited in the first half due to foul trouble, but he turned it on in the second, scoring 10 of his 14 total points after intermission. Still, he didn't rise to the heroic levels he reached against the Duke Blue Devils on Friday. The Mountain Hawks shot just 32.8 percent for the night, including 13.6 percent (3-of-22) from beyond the 3-point arc. McKnight led the team with 20 points, and hit all three of the team's 3-pointers.
Kenny Frease and Holloway combined to score all but nine of Xavier's 37 second half points. Frease finished with a career high 25 playing in the post, adding 13 rebounds. Holloway, meanwhile, consistently came up with big shots, hitting four 3-pointers on his way to 21 points for the night.
The Musketeers advance to the Sweet 16, where they will face the 3-seed Baylor Bears on Thursday.

Unlike Norfolk State, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks apparently aren't suffering any ill effects due to their major upset win over the 2-seed Duke Blue Devils on Friday. They lead the Xavier Musketeers 37-33 at halftime of Sunday's third round 2012 NCAA Tournament game, thanks to fast start from Mackey McKnight.
The sophomore guard already has 14 points on 6-for-9 through 20 minutes, allowing C.J. McCollum to take it easy after playing the hero against the Blue Devils. McCollum has just four points so far, after two fouls relegated him to the bench for a long stretch.
The Mountain Hawks led by as many as 15 points, but a late Xavier run brought the Musketeers to within four points at the final horn. Center Kenny Frease is a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor to lead the Musketeers with 12 points. Tu Holloway hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to keep Xavier within striking distance. He has six points so far.

On a night where two #2 seeds fell, #5 Temple’s ouster at the hands of #12 USF won’t register as one of the more shocking upsets of the night… but it will certainly serve as a very disappointing ending to what, until two weeks ago, had been a very strong campaign from Temple.
The Bulls will now advance to take on #13 seed Ohio, who pulled off a shocking upset of #4 Michigan.
Heading into March madness, Temple was on a roll. They’d won 24 games, won the Atlantic 10 regular season title and entered the conference tournament as the #1 seed. That’s when it all started to go wrong. They were one and done, being ousted by UMass in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Tonight, they failed to bounce back and suffered the same fate at the hands of South Florida.
After both teams put on a pretty poor first half display, Temple led 19-15. However, USF would turn it on in the second and the Owls really never did. The Bulls put up 43 second half points, while Temple could respond with only 25.
Khalif Wyatt led all scorers with 19, but did so on 5-15 shooting, including 1-6 from beyond the arch. As a team, Temple shot just 2-12 from three point land. They shot just .319 as a team.

It hasn't been pretty, but the No. 5 seed Temple Owls lead the No. 12 seed South Florida Bulls 19-15 at halftime.
Much like their opponent Cal in the play-in game, the Bulls have gone frigid on offense, shooting a ridiculously low 12 percent from the field. Victor Rudd leads USF with only 4 points.
The game has not gotten away from USF due to their stout defense. Temple has had trouble blowing the game open despite USF's woes, as the Bulls defense has only allowed them to take 13 shots. Khalif Wyatt leads the Owls with 9 points, and is shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. The rest of the team, however, needs to pick up the slack in the second half.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks joined Norfolk State as a No. 15 seed to pull off an incredible upset, as they shocked the Duke Blue Devils - in Greensboro Friday night.
After trailing 30-28 at the half, an unflustered Lehigh squad put the clamps on the Blue Devils', holding Duke to just 23.1 percent from behind the arc.
Lehigh was led by C.J. McCollum who scored 30 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Gabe Knutson added 17 points to pave the way.
Mason Plumlee of Duke did his part, scoring 21 points while shooting a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, however Duke's guards failed to pick up the slack. Austin Rivers had 19 points but shot just 5-for-14 from the field in what was most likely his last game playing for the Blue Devils.
Lehigh will take on the winner of the Notre Dame-Xavier game later Friday night.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks trail the Duke Blue Devils, 30-28, after the first half of play in the Second Round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament from Greensboro Coliseum.
Lehigh's defense was tremendous in the first half and held Duke to just 11-26 from the field. The Blue Devils were ice cold from behind the arc (1-10). The Mountain Hawks did not shoot any better (10-25, 2-8 from three-point range) and didn't make enough out of their opportunities to extend a lead they held with under six minutes to go in the half. Lehigh was also just 6-11 from the free throw line. Duke tied the game at 21 with a little more than three minutes to go as a result and were able to take a 30-28 lead into the halftime break.
Lehigh was led by 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal from CJ McCollum. Duke was led by Mason Plumlee's 12 points and five rebounds.

The Temple Owls now, officially, have an opponent for their first-round game in the 2012 NCAA tournament. Temple will face the University of South Florida Bulls, who beat California by a final score of 65-54 in Wednesday night's First Four game.
The Bulls earned the 12th seed in the Midwest Regional thanks to their win and a soft bubble of teams in contention for this year's invitations to the big dance. South Florida dominated Cal in the first half by a score of 36-13. Cal did a little catching up later in the game, but the final score makes it seem much closer than it really was for the Bulls.
Temple will be seeing much more of South Florida in the near future. The Owls will join USF in the Big East next season.
Temple and South Florida will play on Friday, March 16, at 9:50 p.m. Eastern.

In what has become a tradition at the White House, President Barack Obama broke out the biggest bracket known to man and made his picks for the fourth straight year.
With ESPN's Andy Katz, Obama selected North Carolina to win it all. This may be good news for Tar Heels fans, since the last time Obama felt that way Roy Williams was cutting down the nets soon thereafter.
The rest of his Final Four consists of Missouri, Kentucky and Ohio State.
The president didn't give overwhelming love to the Philly teams, picking Lehigh to get bounced in the second round by Duke and Temple to advance past USF/California only to be defeated by Michigan.
Obama wasn't upset minded this year, with VCU being his lowest seeded team to win a game as a No. 12.
In a funny quirk, he did pick every 10-seed to beat their counterparts in the second round, but none of which to reach the Sweet Sixteen.
Obama's cinderella is N.C. State, who he believes will reach the regionals.

In what has become a bit of a tradition, President Barack Obama has filled out an NCAA Tournament bracket and released it to the public. Well, at least the Final Four are public, the rest will be revealed on ESPN.
For the men's tournament, he's got the Kentucky Wildcats, Ohio St. Buckeyes, Missouri Tigers and North Carolina Tarheels. He also did a women's bracket where he's got Baylor, St. John's Connecticut and Notre Dame in the Final Four.
The President will actually be in Dayton tonight to take in the first round with British Prime Minister David Cameron. You can actually go to his re-election website and participate in the "Obama Bracket Challenge" and if you beat the president, his campaign will put your name on the site.
No word on whether Mitt Romney will give that a go...

Are the Temple Owls ripe for an upset? SB Nation's Bill Connelly believes so, asserting in his 2012 NCAA Tournament predictions that the No. 12 California Bears will oust No. 5 Temple in the first round in the Midwest Region.
Connelly thinks the region's top four seeds -- No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Kansas, No. 3 Georgetown and No. 4 Michigan -- will all reach the Sweet 16, predicting that Kansas will beat Michigan in the Elite Eight for the right to move onto the Final Four.
Temple did not impress Connelly enough to advance out of his first round, but the Owls did earn one of his awards: the region's most overrated team. Yikes.

The Temple Owls won't know their second round opponent in the 2012 NCAA Tournament until after Wednesday's play-in game between the Cal Golden Bears and the South Florida Bulls. Whoever wins that game will play the owls in Omaha on Friday.
The Owls earned a 5-seed in this year's tournament after going 24-7 during the regular season. That seed may have been higher, but they suffered a shocking upset to the UMass Minutemen during the Atlantic 10 Tournament despite being heavy favorites to win the championship.
Cal and USF both snuck into the Big Dance from the bubble as at-large bids. The Golden Bears finished second in the Pac-12 after going 24-9 overall. The Bulls went 20-13 overall, and 12-6 in a competitive Big East Conference.
Game date/time: Friday, March 16, 9:50 p.m. ET
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
TV: TNT
Announcers: Marv Albert and Steve Kerr. Craig Sager reporting.

The Midwest region's #5 seed Temple Owls will have a challenging second round matchup (remember the play in games are now the first round) in either California or South Florida. However, if they do get beyond that game, they'll likely have a tantalizing matchup with the 4th seeded Michigan Wolverines.
Michigan finished the year ranked #14, but CBS' Seth Davis is not a believer. On the selection Sunday show he picked Temple as an upset winner in that possible matchup and therefore a surprise appearance in the Sweet 16. It certainly wouldn't be the first giant Temple has knocked off, they've got three wins over tournament teams this year including a big one over Duke in Philadelphia in early January.
For the matchup to happen, Michigan would have to get by the Mid America Conference champion Ohio Bobcats. The Wolverines are used to an Ohio based rival, just not this one.

After landing the No. 5 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the Temple Owls will be waiting to find out their first opponent. They will face the winner of the first round play-in game between the California Golden Bears and the South Florida Bulls, who will be Temple's future Big East conference rival. The Owls received an at-large bid from the tournament's selection committee after turning in a 24-7 record during the regular season.
Despite the regular season success and the #1 seed, the Owls stumbled in the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a shock upset at the hands of UMass. It was never going to cost them a tournament bid, but certainly the Owls were looking for more than one and done in their conference tournament. Now, Temple gets to begin its 30th tournament appearance.
Temple finished 13-3 in the A-10 and won 13 out its last 15 games overall.

Philadelphia only got one team in the NCAA Tournament, although we can adopt Lehigh as well, but that doesn't mean fans of the Wildcats, Hawks, Explorers and poorly snubbed Dragons won't be following the tournament. So for your office, your dorm room, your bedroom... we've got your printable bracket for the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
Get your 2012 NCAA Tournament printable bracket right here.
Surely Temple Owls fans will be looking ahead to that potentially tantalizing matchup with the Michigan Wolverines. CBS' Seth Davis actually has Temple as an upset pick to make the Sweet 16. How about you? Meanwhile you St. Joes and Villanova alums will surely have them going out to either Cal or USF...
And Lehigh alums/students are you confident enough in your Mountainhawks to pick them to move past powerhouse Duke? If you do and they win, you'll look like geniuses because you'll probably be the only people on earth to make that pick.

Will 19 straight wins ultimately prove futile? Or will the Drexel Dragons be rewarded by the NCAA tournament selection committee for such a consistent regular season?
The answers will come Sunday night after Selection Sunday concludes. Drexel is firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble after falling to VCU in the Colonial Athletic Association title game, despite entering that bout on a 19-game winning streak.
Entering the final day of conference tournaments, the Dragons are predicted to miss the NCAA Tournament by ESPN's Joe Lunardi, whose latest bracketology labels Drexel one of the first four teams out. SB Nation's latest edition of Bracketology paints a different picture, with the Dragons chosen as one of the last four teams in.
Either way, Bruiser Flint's team will sweat out Selection Sunday.
For all of the latest Drexel news, check out our team page. Be sure to keep checking back on Dobbertean's Bracketology post, as he'll continue to update it throughout the week leading up to Selection Sunday.
