Terrible Monday Night NFL Game Beats ALCS In Ratings

At this point, saying that the NFL is king in the US is like saying water is wet... But this particular story shocked even me.

Last night’s Monday Night Football game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans outrated Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers (7.2 to 6.5).

Think about this for a second. Last night's Monday Night Football game was awful. It was a complete and total blowout from the start between two small market NFL teams in Jacksonville & Tennessee. After the game, even Steve Young was on the ESPN post game show saying how he was watching Cliff Lee against the Yankees because of how awful the MNF game was.

At the same time, the ALCS is going on between the biggest market/biggest draw New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers who are pretty much a part of the huge Dallas/Ft Worth market. Plus, the game 2-0 heading into the 9th inning and Cliff Lee was pitching a gem.

In short, baseball had everything going for it and football had nothing going for it... And more people watched football.

It's America's pastime.
