The legendary Spectrum has reached the end of its lifespan and will finally be demolished next month to make way for the construction of the “Philly Live” complex.
↵Unfortunately, we’ll be losing the Spectrum and won’t even get the satisfaction of watching it get imploded. As Comcast’s Peter Lukko explains, the way the building was constructed prevents it from being imploded like the Vet was.
↵↵“The Vet had all those columns, so all you had to do for that was strap some dynamite to each column and watch it collapse on itself,” Luukko told the newspaper. “The Spectrum would have to be blown up in pieces, and that doesn’t make any sense, so we’re going to just take a wrecking ball to it.”
