2010 Philadelphia Marathon Results

American Daniel Vassallo won the Philadelphia marathon for the men while Dutch woman Mariska Kramer took the top spot for the ladies. Vassallo crossed the line at 2:21:28 while Kramer finished in 2:38.55.

For reference, Vassallo’s pace was about 13 minutes slower than the winner of the New York marathon, Gebre Gebrmariam. Kramer was about 10 minutes off the pace of women’s winner Edna Kiplagat.

Vassallo said he was overcome with emotion at the race end.

“I was kind of overcome by emotion a couple times today,” says Vassallo. “At 24 miles, I was like, ‘Gosh, I’m going to do this.’ At 26, when they were playing the music (‘Chariots of Fire’) and calling my name, I got very emotional, especially with all I’ve been through this year.”

The race was run concurrently with Philadelphia half marathon which was won by Kiprotich Kirui in 1:04.02 for the men and Hirut Madefro in 1:17.52 for the women.
