Villanova Reviewing Incident Involving Freshman JayVaughn Phillips

The Villanova basketball program is reviewing details stemming from an incident involving freshman forward JayVaughn Pinkston. According to VUHoops, the incident happened at a frat party in Upper Merion and lead to a person being put in the hospital. The hospital reported an assault to police, who began an investigation. Upper Merion police spoke to the Associated Press and said that police are looking into the incident but have not made any arrests yet.

Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Maurer said Upper Merion police responded to Bryn Mawr Hospital at the request of another police agency early Sunday morning for an assault report involving this case. He said there is an investigation into an altercation in a residential area of the township and that there have been no arrests.

"By the end of the week well have an answer," he said. "This isn’t something we’re going to rush to make a decision on."

So far, Villanova head coach Jay Wright has yet to make a statement on the issue. JayVaughn Pinkston is a 6-6 forward from Brooklyn, NY who is only in his freshman year at Villanova. The Wildcats kickoff their 2010/11 campaign this Friday night against Bucknell.
