Zherdev Scores Two As Flyers End Rangers Streak

Four days ago the Flyers ended the Penguins 12 game winning streak and today they ended the Rangers 3 game streak with a big 4-1 win at Wells Fargo Center. Ex Ranger Nikolay Zherdev earned the first star scoring two goals, the first and last of the afternoon.

Brian Boucher saved 24 of 25 shots, he's now 6-0-1 in his last seven games.

The Flyers were in control of the game heading into the mid part part of the third period with a 2-0, but Derek Stepan scored to narrow the gap to 2-1. The Flyers would respond just over a minute later when Claude Giroux threw a shot on net that that was deflected in off Ville Leino's glove for Leino's 8th of the season.

Nikolay Zherdev iced the game with a goal that was something to see. He was standing on the end line, probably 6 feet to the right of the post and fired a shot off Henrik Lundqvist's blocker which banked into the net. It was Zherdev's 13th of the year.

The Flyers are now riding a 5 game winning streak and still hold the best record in hockey. Next up, the orange and black host Florida on Monday.
