United States Loses World Cup 2022 Bid To Qatar

As of last night, the United States was rumored to be a slight favorite to host the 2022 World Cup, with Philadelphia in line to be one of the host cities. However, after four rounds of voting the event was awarded to Qatar. It marks the first time a World Cup will be held in the Middle East.

The country plans to spend billions on cooled stadiums to counter the extreme heat during the summers there. The country will build nine new stadiums in all.
