Flyers up 3-1 heading into third period

The hopes of Michael Leighton recording his fourth shutout of the series were dashed within a minute of the puck dropping. Brian Gionta shocked the hometown crowd with the opening goal 59 seconds into the game.

The Flyers then conceded a penalty just a few minutes later and the likelihood of a game 6 in the series looked to be getting better and better… but captain Mike Richards worked one of the best shifts you’ll ever see that culminated in a tremendous shorthanded goal to even the game at one a piece. From there, the Flyers took over.

As they have for most of the series, the boys in orange owned the second period. Goals from Aaron Asham and and a beauty from Jeff Carter have the good guys up 3-1 heading into the final period.

20 minutes to the Stanley Cup final. Just have to hold on.
